Who is Divyendu Sharma?
Divyendu Sharma is a trained actor best known for playing Munna Tripathi in ‘Mirzapur‘, Akhil Srivastava in ‘Bichoo Ka Khel‘ and Saurabh Bajpai in ‘The Salt City‘. In Bichoo Ka Khel, he played the character of an aspiring novelist who was interrogated for a lawyer’s murder. During interrogation Divyendu narrates the story to the police officer and tells him how his father was framed in murder charges and killed in jail.
In Sony Liv series ‘The Salt City’, Divyendu played the significant character of Saurabh Bajpai, who shares a great bond with her cousin sister Ela Bajpai (played by Monica Chaudhary), who was sexually abused by her sister’s husband Sukesh Sood, played by Jitin Gulati.
Apart the series mentioned above, Divyendu is also known for comedy, drama film ‘Mere Desh Ki Dharti‘, released in 2022, directed by Faraz Haider. The movie is written around the village theme and the challenges faced by farmers in the real life.

Divyendu Sharma was born and raised in Delhi. He completed his graduation in Political Science from DU, Kirori Mal College, Delhi. While studying in college he joined a theatre group called ‘Players’ and continued plays for 3 years. Thereafter, he went to Pune and enrolled at FTII, where he learnt camera acting.

Akanksha Sharma comes from a rich family, who’s father is a policeman and mother is a doctor in Delhi. Divyendu was previously hesitated to confess his love towards her, because, he wasn’t well settled and scared if that affects their friendship.
But soon after the release of his first film Pyaar Ka Punchnama, he proposed her and they both got married. Just like Divyendu’s mother and sister, Akanksha has also been a great support during his hard times, she never told him to make a portfolio or build muscles, instead she motivated him and told him to focus on his craft. Akanksha loved him for his honesty and good looks, said Divyendu Sharma in an interview to a media house.
Debut and Career
While staying in Delhi, Divyendu Sharma took first job as an assistant art director for a short film shot in Delhi. Meanwhile he also applied for NSD and FTII, and got selected in both. However, he chose FTII over NSD because he wanted to make his career in films not theatre. After finishing his diploma in acting from FTII, Pune, he moved to Mumbai in search of work and shared a two room set in Goregaon with other friends of similar interest.
Film Debut and List of Movies
After struggling for 3 long years, he got his first break in Bollywood from Luv Ranjan’s film ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama‘, released in 2011, where he played the role of Nishant Agarwal aka ‘Liquid’. The movie has been a huge hit and Divyendu along with other co-actors Kartik Aaryan (Aka Rajjo), Nushrratt Bharuccha (as Neha), Sonnalli Seygall (as Rhea) got tremendous fame and recognition.
In 2013, David Dhawan spotted Divyendu in a Reliance Tv Ad and immediately casted him as ‘OMI’ in the remake of film Chashme Baddoor, initially played by Rakesh Bedi. In this film he played the role of a poet.

In 2016, Divyendu Sharma made his debut from web series called Permanent Roommates created by TVF. Couple of years later, he acted in Anurag Kashyap’s directional series ‘Mirzapur‘, where he played the character of Munna Tripathi, which received a lot of love and appreciation from audience.
In 2020, he appeared in Zee5 original series ‘Bicchoo Ka Khel‘, where he appeared in the main lead role of Akhil Srivastava, an aspiring novelist and accused murderer.
