“Boy Kills World” Plot: Bill Skarsgård’s Gory Tale of Revenge

The trailer for upcoming action movie Boy Kills World is out! Directed by Moritz Mohr, the trailer features Boy (Bill Skarsgård), a youngster on a mission to avenge his family’s murder. The boy’s family dies a painful death at the hands of Hilda Van Der Koy, a deranged matriarch of a corrupt post-apocalyptic dynasty, leaving him deaf and mute. The film is a wild ride. It stars Bill Skarsgard, Famke Janssen, Yayan Ruhian, Sharlto Copley, Andrew Koji, Brett Gelman, Jessica Rothe, and Isaiah Mustafa. The film will soon be released in theaters on April 26, 2024. 

What Is in the Plot?

The martial arts action film, written by Tyler Burton Smith and Arend Remmers, tells the story of a youngster who, after being orphaned by a corrupt dynasty, sets out on a quest for revenge on his family’s death. He devises a three-step plan to achieve his objectives. First, he follows his inner voice, something he learned from his favorite childhood video game. Second, he grows stronger, learns martial skills from a strange shaman (who reared him in the bush), and last, he joins an organization known as The Resistance. On the eve of the yearly culling (an event organized by the merciless ruler to slaughter random civilians in order to keep them in line), Boy is free to carry out his plan. What happens next is a horrific chain of events in which Boy kills his enemies one by one. 

Who Is in the Cast?

Bill Skarsgård essays the lead role in the film, a guy named Boy. Skarsgard is a Swedish actor known for playing Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the horror films It (2017) and It Chapter Two based on Stephen King’s novel. He also voiced Deviant Kro in the Marvel film Eternals (2021).

The inner voice is given by H Jon Benjamin, best known for roles in adult animated series including Sterling Archer in Archer, Bob Belcher in Bob’s Burgers, Ben in Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist; Satan in Lucy, the Daughter of the Devil and others.

Famke Janssen plays Hilda Van Der Koy, Boy’s arch-nemesis. Janssen portrayed the role of Jean Grey in the X-men film series. She is also known for playing Lenore Mills in the Taken film trilogy. 

Yayan Ruhian is an Indonesian martial arts teacher who plays Boy’s mentor. He is best known for essaying the role, Mad Dog in The Raid (2011) and The Raid 2 (2014).

Jessica Rothe’s character in the film is called June 27. She essayed the role of Alexis in the Academy-award winning movie, La La Land. She was also assigned the lead role in Happy Death Day (2017) as Tree Gelbman. 

Sharlto Copley plays Gideon Van Der Koy. A South African actor known for movies like District 9(2009), The A-Team (2010), Elysium (2013), Europa Report(2013) and Maleficent (2014).

Andrew Koji is a British actor and a martial artist. He plays the role of Basho. He is known for movies like Bullet Train, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, Warrior, Fast & Furious 6. 

Brett Gelman plays Glen Van Der Koy. Gelman is best known for playing Murray Bauman in Netflix’s Stranger Things. He also essayed the role of Martin in the BBC comedy Fleabag.  

Isaiah Mustafa plays Benny in the film. He is an American actor and former American football wide receiver. He is known for playing Mike Hanlon in It: Chapter Two.

Will It Be Available on OTT?

Boy Kills World will be out in the theatres on April 26. However, it is not confirmed whether it will get an OTT release. Since the film is produced by Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions, it is likely that it will be made available to stream on Lionsgate Play by next month.

This action-packed movie is worth watching if you have a taste for gory films. Boy Kills World has a framework similar to that of a video game with a “crazy action montage” which makes it a better fit for video-game lovers. Throughout the movie, there are also a few flashbacks from little Boy’s (Cameron Crovetti) life and a few glimpses of his sister’s (Quinn Williams) spirit that adds an interesting punch. You will be captivated by Bill Skarsgård’s mind-blowing martial arts moves. 

Fans are going gaga over the trailer. While some think that Skarsgard is a “top-tier casting” others feel that “he is totally gonna dominate cinema” with his latest release. Some are also excited to see Mad Dog on screen after a long absence.
