Marvel Studios has dropped the trailer of highly-anticipated film, ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ featuring two outstanding actors, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. Fans have been thrilled to watch their two favourite superheroes together on screen for the first time. According to the Director Shawn Levy the upcoming film is “a two-hander character adventure”. The action-comedy is set to release in theaters on July 26, 2024.  

What Is ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ About?

Deadpool is here to change the history of MCU with Wolverine! ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ the two superheroes come together to fight the bad guys. Trailer teases that the film will offer much more action, comedy and adventure sequences. The plot revolves around Wolverine recovering from his injuries as he teams up with ‘Merc with a Mouth’ to their common enemy.

What Is the Star Cast?

Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will reprise their respective roles as Wade Wilson aka Deadpool and Logan/Wolverine in the upcoming franchise. 

Meanwhile, Emma Corrin plays the role of Cassandra Nova who is the main antagonist in the film. Emma is known for playing Princess Diana in Netflix’s The Crown’s Season 4. She also starred as Lady Chatterley in the D.H. Lawrence’s novel Lady Chatterley’s Lover. 

Morena Baccarin, who plays Deadpool’s fiance, Vanessa, has returned from the dead! (Deadpool saved her using a time-turner in Deadpool 2) Vanessa is shown in the teaser celebrating Deadpool’s birthday beside him. However, we are unsure how much screen time she gets in the film. 

Jennifer Garner returns as Elektra. Other cast members include Rob Delaney as Peter, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Karan Soni as Dopinder and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Paradox. 

How Did the Fans React?

Marvel fans have gone into a frenzy since the release of the much-awaited trailer of ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’. They took no time to shower praises in the comments section. “After 20 years we finally have a comic accurate Wolverine and with Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is literally a match made in Comic Book Heaven. What a great trailer”!, wrote one user. 

It is for the first time in 23 years that Wolverine will appear in the film donning the yellow suit, his comic book costume. Some fans also shared their excitement to see a clash between the two superheroes. 

The makers chose Madonna’s popular song, ‘Like A Prayer’ as the soundtrack for the trailer, and fans are loving it! “I love the song they selected. So many layers…”, wrote a user. Another wrote, “If anyone had told me 10 minutes ago that Like a Prayer was the perfect, exhilarating soundtrack to a fight scene, I would have said they were nuts and yet…”

Who is the Main Villain?

The new trailer of ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ hints the entry of a new villain, Cassandra Nova, the evil twin of Charles Xavier, Professor X. In the Marvel Comics, Cassandra is best known for leading an army of Sentinels to slaughter 16 million mutants in Genosha, including powerful individuals such as Magneto. 

Will It Be Released on OTT?

Considering the release pattern of the previous Marvel films, ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ is expected to be released on Disney+ Hotstar. Shawn Levy has directed ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ while the screenplay is written by Rhett Reese, Ryan Reynolds, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells. The action comedy is produced by Marvel Studios, Maximum Effort, and 21 Laps Entertainment, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

What to Expect?

Fans have been going gaga over the trailer of the ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ and believe that it is definitely worth the wait! The film will also be bringing some main characters from the X-Men franchise. 

“This Logan let down his entire world”, says Paradox, a character in the film.So, will we see a fresh version of Wolverine this time? You’ll have to wait for that answer. 

The trailer marks the return of Alioth who is Loki’s time monster who is also the biggest enemy of Kang the Conqueror. 

The latest trailer included Wrexham sports star Ollie Palmer, who will appear in a cameo role in the film. Palmer was an essential player for Wrexham this season as the club achieved automatic promotion to League One, their second promotion in a row.

We also see a sneak-peak of Ant-Man’s giant head in the trailer which is sort of the home for the bad guys. 

Towards the end the trailer drops hints towards multiverse sequences as Deadpool and Wolverine are seen leaping through a magic portal. It is the same circle as seen in the Dr. Strange movies. So, will we be seeing more characters from Marvel’s multiverse?
