Walt Disney Studios has released the much-anticipated trailer of Mufasa: The Lion King, the prequel of The Lion King which was released five years ago. Directed by Academy Award winner Barry Jerkins, the prequel revolves around the origins of Mufasa, the king of The Pride Lands. Unlike the previous part, which depicted Simba’s tale of survival, this part will delve deep into the childhood of Mufasa as he rose to power and his rivalry with Scar.

What Does the Plot Say?

The trailer introduces us to Rafiki, who recounts the story of Mufasa, the great lion king, to his descendent and the daughter of Simba and Nala, Kiara. “A lion was born without a drop of nobility in his blood.” This line indicates that the storyline follows the rise of Simba’s father. The trailer also shows snippets of Mufasa running along another lion, which we guess is his brother Scar who later turns out to be his rival. Mufasa is shown as an orphan who is rescued by a sympathetic lion named Taka aka Scar. Taka comes from a royal lineage and welcomes Mufasa into his family. Their bonds are put to test when they encounter a deadly beast.
