In 3 One Day International series (ODI), India defeated Australia in first ODI by 5 wickets at Inderjit Singh Bindra Stadium, and achieved the first spot by gaining 116 points, displacing Pakistan to second spot with 115 points and pushing Australia to the third spot with 111 points in ICC ODI rankings.

This is the first time India or any other cricket team has achieved the top spot in all the three formats. Previously, it was achieved by South Africa in 2012.

Interestingly, Pakistan will still have the chance to top the ranking table, only if Australia beats India in upcoming matches scheduled on Sunday September 24 and September 27, 2023.

However, Australia will remain on the third spot as the gap between India and Australia ODI rankings has been increased.

The second ODI series between India vs Australia will be played in Holkar Stadium, Indore.

After this three day ODI series, India will play its first ICC World Cup 2023 match with Australia on Sunday, 8th October at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
